Since I deleted Instagram and TikTok, I have been thinking a lot about how my relationship with my phone keeps affecting my day-to-day life.
To be honest, I am still not the ‘offline guru’ I would like to be. Sure, I have better habits now—and I lost all interest in short-form content, which is a win—but my screen time is still much higher than I would like to admit.
After doing the math myself—I use my phone an average of 4 to 6 hours a day, which is less than ideal—I got incredibly terrified. I mean, you can look at it yourself:
This realization is the main reason I decided to start this new challenge. I want to be better, and I want to do it for real this time. And I feel like everything is better if it’s done in community—that’s why I would like you guys to join me in the process.
The offline challenge will be a weekly—sometimes bi-weekly—list of journal prompts and actions to take in order to have a healthier relationship with our phones—while creating a community of people who are interested in doing the same thing.
Even though I am posting this with the idea of starting on March 1st, you can start anytime, and do it at your own pace.
Remember: your digital detox journey shouldn't feel like a burden. It should feel liberating. It should feel like freedom.
And now, without further ado, let's get into it.
