What can you expect from this piece?

  • The beginning: How the weekly scrapbook was born.

  • A gift for you: 20% discount on both monthly and yearly paid subscriptions with a special coupon.

  • How did we get here? (Or how I reached 10,000 subscribers in just four months).

  • The person behind the newsletter. A proper introduction, this time for real. And, uh… Face reveal, I guess?

Thank you.

Here are some places that could fit 10,000 people:

  • Two sold-out shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

  • Half a concert at Madison Square Garden in New York.

  • An entire small town (the one where my family currently lives, specifically, has about 14,000 inhabitants).

  • (!!!)

To think that 10,000 people are interested enough in my writing to subscribe to my blog is truly unbelievable.

Substack didn't just help me overcome my fear of sharing my writing with others, it also helped me find a community of people who share the same values and worries as I do. And for that, I will be forever grateful. You guys are fucking cool.

I've said it a million times, but it's the truth. It's a writer's dream, and after so much time, I am finally living it. And it's all thanks to you.

I have so many plans for the future of this blog, but my main goal is to build community—a place for people like us. A place to share thoughts, morals, ideas, and a passion for writing. A place to reflect about what it means to navigate modern life.

I want the weekly scrapbook to grow into a real community, not just another soulless corner of the internet.

And, brick by brick, we're getting there.

The beginning: How the weekly scrapbook was born

This is our shared signature at this point <3

It was December 2024, and I was going through a difficult time. Sounds cliché, huh? I was trying to cope with the loneliness that comes with moving to another country on your own, and no matter how hard I tried, something always felt off. There was an itch I couldn’t scratch, and my nails were worn thin from trying.

I had been wanting to create my own blog on Substack for a while. Writing has always been my thing—ever since I can remember, words have been my best medicine—so when I discovered a platform made specifically for writers, I knew I had to create an account as soon as possible.

I still remember lying on my bed around 10 p.m. after a work day, writing the first draft of my introduction post in my journal.

welcome to the weekly scrapbook

what is the weekly scrapbook?

I always knew I wouldn’t be able to stick to just one niche—that’s why I called it scrapbook.

I wanted this blog to be a collection of thoughts, feelings, opinions, and emotions.

I wanted it to be raw and messy.

I wanted it to be real.

And I hope that, by now, you can tell I kept it this way.

A gift for you

Words will never be enough to express how thankful I am to each and every one of you for reading and engaging with my work. To show my gratitude, I've decided to give back in two ways:

  • I gifted 10 one-month paid subscriptions (already done through our Substack chat!).

  • I created a 20% discount coupon for both monthly and yearly paid subscriptions! You can redeem it by clicking this link.

Remember that, by becoming a paid subscriber, you'll gain access to all past, present, and future exclusive posts—there are already ten pieces waiting for you!

How did we get here?

I remember when I was writing down my goals for 2025, I set two Substack-related ones:

  • To post a long-form piece on Substack every week, no matter what.

  • To reach 300 subscribers by the end of the year.

At the time, I thought that 300 subscribers seemed like an incredibly ambitious goal, but I told myself I would try anyway. I only had ten subscribers, and my pieces still barely had any readers.

So, how did I manage to hit 10,000 subscribers in just four months?

Consistency.

As I mentioned, one of my goals for 2025 was to post a long-form piece on Substack every week, no matter what. I am the kind of person who gets bored with her projects really easily and doesn’t even hesitate before she jumps to the next one. So, this goal was a tough one—and we still have a long way to go— but so far, I’ve managed to stick with it! And there were even times when I posted bi-weekly!

Oops, you just hit the paywall! However, if you manage to jump over it by becoming a paid subscriber, you will find:

  • How I got 10,000 subscribers in four months (full version)

  • A proper introduction, this time for real. And uh… Face reveal, I guess?

  • Why I decided to keep anonymity on this platform

If you can’t commit to a monthly subscription, that’s alright.

You can also buy me a coffee and, if you add your e-mail or send me a private message, I will give you access to all of my exclusive posts for 7 days! 💌
