I really just can't use Pinterest at all. I become sucked in by the links to all the cool, expensive and/or unneccessary items that fit my "aesthetic" and then I end up spending way too much money on things I don't need. I think I would fall into this trap even if I followed your tips (which are useful, definitely).
I first used Pinterest in 2013 and it was a lot more fun back then. There were basically no ads or links to products. You could legitimately compile an inspiration board without worrying about an algorithm. I also spent way less time endlessly scrolling on it back then - maybe because there was less content. Or maybe because I hadn't yet developed a smartphone addiction. I still used it only on my computer.
Anyway, I'm getting off on a tangent. I'm loving your blog. <3
it's sad, honestly. i agree that, no matter what, apps like pinterest or tiktok always lead to consumerism. it's very hard to escape
i am also really curious about pinterest in 2013 – it must have been a complete different world. i miss when we would visit most sites only on our computers </3
nevertheless, thank you for sharing your experience, and thank you for reading my posts. it truly means a lot 💖💖
As a Pinterest manager and consumer of the platform I love these tips and appreciate you sharing your insights. I definitely agree that people should be mindful when they are using these apps.
I recently stumbled across a different platform called Cosmos. It functions exactly like Pinterest, but without ads. It doesn't have the sheer number of things that Pinterest has so there really is no algorithmic recommended feed. Rather it wants you to save and upload your own stuff. You can transfer an entire board from Pinterest there. Then you can look at your own inspirations
Thank you for this! I just started my new account and my February board. My pins are really starting to feel like they’re more curated and concise instead of a total photo dump. Maybe I’ll do a little write up about my Intentional Pinterest experience after the first month!
this makes me really happy!! i would love to read about your intentional pinterest experience :)) i truly hope it works for you the same way it's been working for me!
My current process is a bit broader, I do it in 3-month chunks (following my 12-week year setup) BUT I'm liking the idea of doing it monthly and limiting it to the number of days in the month... thank you for this!
Thank you for this! Your method had completely reinvented the way that I use Pinterest, and I'm having a lot more fun with it now than I ever did before!
I just did my whole year (from now March 3rd) but it was so fun totally restful activity for a change if u want to see how I did mine here my profile link :-) https://pin.it/6q7P8PcNL
